Best Fight for Justice

Who I Am

I’ve never been afraid to fight. I’ve made a career fighting in the courtroom for the citizens of the state of Louisiana. I am proud of my 32-year career as a prosecutor because I know that I was always fair.

Individuals that I’ve prosecuted have later told me that they respected me for treating them fairly. Now, I want to fight for you, for your rights, for your justice. This is a critical time that can change, ruin, or save your life.

I want to help you. I know how to be aggressive; I was always aggressive. I'll know the state's weaknesses; I was the state. I want to and will use all my knowledge gained as a prosecutor to persuasively and aggressively fight for you, your rights, and your freedom.

I will be your best fight for justice.

Why Choose Me

I know what you need, and I've seen what you don't need. Over the years, I’ve seen inexperienced and overworked defense attorneys who neither know their clients nor effectively communicate with them. To them, the client is not a person, just another case number or file. The client's message, personal story, and special circumstances are never explained to the prosecutor. I’ve seen and heard a defendant’s frustration way too often. Moreover, weaknesses in the state’s evidence aren’t exposed because the defense attorney doesn’t adequately and critically investigate the evidence or meticulously research and understand the law. The result is a weakened position in plea negotiations and a defense attorney with no ammunition to fight in court with facts, law, or their client’s personal story. I don't want this for you, or anyone. You deserve better.

An inexperienced, uncomfortable, or unprepared attorney is not how you achieve the best outcome. I’ve seen the worst. You deserve the best. I have a thirty-two-year career of trial experience. I am comfortable and respected in the courtroom. I will always be ready and willing to fight for you both in and out of court.

What I Do

Janet M. Perrodin will be your best fight for justice. I am a retired prosecutor and do not need to accept every case. I am selective in the cases I take and in the people I represent so that I can devote all of my time and energy to your defense.

If I represent you, I pledge to you that I will have and take the time to get to know you and your unique situation. I will communicate with you and your family. I will thoroughly know your case by independently and critically conducting my own investigation into the evidence against you – and for you.

I will critically examine the conduct of the officers who arrested you to determine whether they violated their own protocol or the United States and Louisiana Constitutions. I will seek out witnesses. I will extensively research and know the law. I will make and aggressively argue the motions that need to be made on your behalf. Never will I think of you as just another file.

If the best thing for you is to plead guilty, I will have all the ammunition about you and your case to fight for your best outcome, whether it be a dismissal of the charges, a probated sentence, or reduction in your time in jail or prison.

If a trial is in your best interest, I pledge to you that I will completely know your case and be prepared to persuasively make all valid legal arguments on your behalf. I pledge that you will know and understand our trial strategy and always be informed. I pledge that I will be an aggressive advocate for you in attacking the state’s witnesses and evidence and in presenting your case to the jury.

Fairness demands that you have effective counsel. Justice demands that you not be just another case. I will know you. I will know how to effectively represent you. I will fight for you.

About Janet M. Perrodin

Janet Menard Perrodin is a lifelong resident of Acadiana. Born in New Iberia and raised in Abbeville, Janet graduated from Vermillion Catholic High School. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now known as the University of Louisiana, and her J.D. from Tulane Law School in 1986.

After clerking for two years for the 16th Judicial District Court, Janet moved to Lafayette to become an Assistant District Attorney for the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, she served the public as an advocate for the citizens of Lafayette Parish.

During Janet M. Perrodin’s 32 years as an Assistant District Attorney, she prosecuted thousands of criminal matters, ranging from violent felonies to misdemeanors. In addition to convicting serious violent offenders, she was creative in crafting alternative plea recommendations which minimized incarceration and maximized rehabilitation for non-violent offenders. As chief felony drug prosecutor, she was instrumental in developing and implementing Lafayette’s first Drug Court. Over twenty years later, Drug Court continues to provide resources to break the cycle of addiction, unite families, and give those with substance addictions a second chance.

Now Ms. Perrodin wants to use her expertise and skill to help local men and women facing serious life-changing consequences. She’s seen too often how those with so much to lose receive impersonal, inadequate representation. These are the people that she wants to help, right here in Acadiana, right now. For these people, for you, she will be your best fight for justice.
